In the midst of my recent office renovation, I rediscovered an artist’s gift. Brian Donnelly (or KAWS, as he’s known) gave me his book after a meeting regarding his exhibition at Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts (PafA) a few years ago. It’s definitely a treasured gift, as I’m a huge fan. I’m actually a fan of pop art in general (Warhol, Lichtenstein), and KAWS and Romero Britto seem to create more contemporary interpretations of it. This book sits upon my coffee table, ready for anyone to peruse while enjoying a warm beverage. It’s perfect for a rainy day and to get your mind inspired! Brian grew up spraying graffiti in Jersey City, New Jersey, and has since worked as an animator for Disney and a designer for limited-edition toys and clothing. His signature white gloves design with Xs has been showcased in multiple modern art museums across the world. I’m lucky my coffee break is accompanied by creativity!
